Gender Inequality

Gender Inequality

Gender inequality is a social issue which has been active in India for many centuries. The birth of a girl child is not so much welcomed by some families in India. It is very surprising that the sex ratio of India is totally unbalanced with around 908 girls for every 1000boys and this ratio is even less in some selected states where girls are considered to be a burden. Women have been marked inferior to men by a few patriarchal norms. A girl child is taken as a burden.

It is really hard to believe that even after proving themselves in various fields from boxing to business, women are not treated well in our country. They are discriminated against in many Indian houses. The people tend to celebrate the birth of a baby boy, but the birth of a baby girl makes them upset. We need to change the thinking of people. The girl child is discriminated in every aspect, whether it is education, health, or protection. The girl child is always being treated unequally.

Around 42% of women in India were married before the legal age, at their teenage (reference: District Information System for Education). The stats about child marriages are really very alarming. The need of the hour is to bring a change in the thinking of people in order to destroy the useless prejudices.
VJP aims to make our country a better place where everyone is treated equally, whether a girl or boy. No one should be discriminated against on the basis of gender.

VJP’s efforts for bringing the change include:
